The banned book project was about the students picking out a banned book that seemed interesting and reading it. While reading it, we either had to write down/type reading assignments that ms. howard gave us. While reading the book we found out why it was censored/banned. We also had to research where our books were banned. My book was challenged because it had sexuality and profanity. It was banned in Minnesota. After we did some research we had to create a bookmark showing how/why the censorship is used in our books. Next we had to bring a food relating to our books for a potluck, and also writing down how the food relates to our book on an index card. For the Barnes and noble exhibition we brought out photo essays and bookmarks so that people can get up to us or we can explain to them our experience on the camping trip and give them a summary about our book, why it was censored and stuff relating to that.
This project was not challenging for me. I really enjoyed my book so that was easy to finish. I also liked noting down all the stuff I was thinking about while I was reading. It helps me concentrate a little more so while I read the next chapter i'm not mixing up what happened in the chapter before.
I think the easiest part about this project was probably just doing the reading reflection assignments. I did read my book that I chose. I would recommend the book to anyone that's mature enough because there are some parts in the book that aren't for younger children to read. One of my friends actually recommended this book to me.
I'm proud of my bookmark because it doesn't look like a kindergartner drew it. I thought it would look bad because i'm not the very best drawer. Something I would change about this project is the Barnes and Noble book fair. I feel like we could've made it into like a real exhibition instead of an extra credit event. I like exhibition and when we get to see peoples reaction to what we build or do. Also exhibition is fun to and we didn't really do any thing because there wasn't many people asking about our camping trip and bookmarks. Barnes and Noble is a good place to hold an exhibition though.

This is the book I read for this project.

We had to create a bookmark that represented the censorship our book had. Since my book had sexuality and bad language I put a censor bar over the f word and a censor bar over tow hands touching. The girl in the middle is Eleanor, who has more problematic events in her life than Park. Park is the person she falling in love with and is dating.

My food relates to my book because Eleanor family is danish and that's a danish traditional Christmas dessert that they eat.
